Hi all,
Acording to what I have read recently, ARRL is planning to regulate bandwidth transmission for no more than 3Khz on SSB or up to 6Khz on AM for HF spectrum.
This could be a disavantage for those who love to experiment with HiFi SSB. Althought this future regulation will only affect US Hams we should expect to be apply by all Ham leagues all over the world.
Just wondering why our National HAM leagues spend more time and efforts fighting against BPL problem rather than putting limits on our experimental capability. My 2 cents thought. 73

I personally haven´t read anything like that, but in any case, neither ARRL nor URE or any other amateur radio league can put any "restriction" on bandwith or any other amateur radio issue. URE is just an organization who takes care of our interests; so I can not see why URE or ARRL would be interested in limitating anything.
The only thing they can do is propose to the Telecomunications authority of the country to introduce these changes or modification, but by any means URE or ARRL can introduce any regulation by themselves.
In our country, only "teleco" can introduce modifications to existing laws, but moreover, in case they were interested in modifying TX bandwith limitating the actual values, that should be aproved by our parlament....
I am not involved in law or legal issues concerning the approval of new laws...but modifying them take a lot of discussion and time, so I would not be too worry for that....however if the info that you have read is more explicit, please let us know.
Quite a number of hams appear to be concerned that the ARRL's proposed change in regulation would cripple ham radio by placing bandwidth limits on our signals. After carefully reading the proposal, it appears to me that the only limit is at the upper end of 3Khz for most of the HF spectrum. There is an exception to permit AM operation up to 6Khz bandwidth. For those who think this limit is unreasonable, I have to wonder if we really want modes that take up more than 3Khz of HF spectrum. In practice we have those limits now because we are limited to certain modes and a requirement to limit bandwidth to that prescribed by good amateur practice for the particular mode. To me that means that a SSB station operated in accordance with good amateur practice would certainly be limited to not more than 3Khz of bandwidth......()
Whatever you call, it looks simple. They´re prettending to reduce bandwith limits and so they´re reducing our capability to experiment with hifi ssb...Not on 11 but on the other bands. My thought. 73!
P.D. Luego lo traduzco y lo pongo en el foro español, Mario....
